Artist's Description
Base painting for the vintage movie poster ''The Hill'', a 1965 British-American war drama film directed by Sidney Lumet and starring Sean Connery. Set during World War II, the film takes place in a British military prison in North Africa and follows the experiences of a group of soldiers who are subjected to brutal treatment by their superiors.
Sean Connery portrays Staff Sergeant Joe Roberts, a former soldier who is sent to the military prison for assaulting his commanding officer. Upon his arrival, Roberts finds himself among a group of hardened and defiant prisoners, including Staff Sergeant Williams (played by Ossie Davis), Private Stevens (played by Alfred Lynch), and Sergeant Harris (played by Ian Bannen).
The prisoners soon discover that the prison is run by sadistic and authoritarian officers who subject them to harsh discipline and grueling physical labor under the scorching desert sun. As tensions escalate between the prisoners and their captors, Roberts emerge...
